The U.S.-French export promotion battle goes on. Raytheon Co. last year thought it had locked up a $1.2 billion Brazilian contract to provide surveillance equipment to monitor ecological damage and drug trafficking in the Amazon rain forest. But new U.S. intelligence indicates the French are pressuring Brazil to scrap the Raytheon deal and award the

contract to France's Thomson CSF.
