AS IF CLASS ACTIONS AND state-backed litigation weren't enough, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco is being sued by one of its own suppliers. On Mar. 7, Manville's Schuller International unit filed suit in a Denver federal court to prevent Reynolds from marketing cigarette products made with Schuller's glass fiber. According to the complaint, Schuller was comfortable supplying Reynolds with fiber "for developmental purposes," but not for cigarettes sold to consumers. Manville won't comment. Reynolds calls it a "misunderstanding" that will quickly be resolved.
