COMMENTARY
A generally lackluster week in the financial markets. U.S. stocks moved
aimlessly, with the most volatility showing up among large-cap stocks. The
greatest activity took place on June 30, when the Dow Jones industrial average
fell 42 points, and bond prices turned lower, in reaction to inflation fears.
The biggest news during the week, the CBS-QVC marriage, failed to bring about
much activity among takeover-prone stocks. Issues sensitive to oil prices led
      the list of gainers.
