Retail sales probably were unchanged in May, after falling 0.8% in April, according to the median forecast of economists surveyed by MMS International, a division of McGraw-Hill Inc. The disappointing performance is suggested by the drop in motor-vehicle sales last month and the decline in sales at department and chain stores calculated by the Johnson Redbook Report.
