The Arab boycott of Israel may not have formally ended, but Israelis claim Arab oil is so easily available to them that they are halting purchases of Mexican crude. About 40% of Israeli energy needs come from Egypt--which has a peace treaty with Israel. Most of the rest comes from Arab producers and Iran, Israeli energy officials say. Meanwhile, Israel continues to discuss natural-gas projects with Qatar, a Persian Gulf state with massive gas reserves.
