In "Wouldn't you like to knock the stuffing out of Barney?" (Top of the News, Aug. 16), you were way off the mark in your depiction of Barney and his image among American parents. The program's so-called tedious lack of "adult-minded entertainment" value is, at best, a misguided criticism for a program specifically intended for children.
Granted, your intent was probably not to misinform the reader but rather to bring lighthearted humor to your otherwise serious publication. However, in today's treacherous television world, parents such as myself can't afford to let such off-base and unwarranted attacks on rare jewels such as the Barney show go unchallenged.
