Here's something that lends new meaning to the term "computer literate." Random House is publishing 10 titles from its Modern Library collection of classics in electronic form. The series of diskettes, with prices ranging from $19.95 to $24.95 each, will run on Apple's PowerBook notebook computers. The texts include works by Dickens, Faulkner, Melville, Proust, and Wilde. Software house Voyager performed the conversion from paper to diskette. If reading via PC catches on and the first titles sell well, Random House will likely bring out hundreds more classics for computers.
