Diets are no fun. Calorie-counting means checking various reference books to find how fattening a food is and then keeping an accurate log of how much is consumed. Now, Parsons Technology in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, hopes to make it easier to win the battle of the bulge with its new software.
Diet Analyst includes a data base of the calorie content and nutritional values of 1,600 foods. So, in addition to watching their weight, PC owners can track any of 24 food values--monitoring, for example, sodium or cholesterol levels. The $59 program works on any IBM or compatible PC, but it doesn't come with the willpower to stop dieters from cheating.
