McFaul Says History Will Call Putin Moves ‘Big Mistake’ (Audio)

Michael McFaul, professor of political science at Stanford University and a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, as well as a former U.S. ambassador to Russia, says history will judge Russian president Vladimir Putin’s moves against Ukraine to be a “big mistake” which ended up pushing the former Soviet country into the arms of Europe and away from any kind of ties with Russia. He says the sanctions levied against Russia by the U.S. and Europe are far harsher than any levied in the past, and will over time have the desired effect of stopping his moves across the border into Ukraine. McFaul speaks with Bloomberg’s Kathleen Hays and Vonnie Quinn on Bloomberg Radio’s "The Hays Advantage.”
