DuPont Files Lawsuit Saying SunEdison Infringed on Solar Patent

DuPont Co. (DD) filed a lawsuit claiming that SunEdison Inc. (SUNE), the best-performing solar company this year, has infringed on its patent for a material used in manufacturing.

DuPont’s complaint alleges that SunEdison’s solar cells and modules contain a specific type of metalization paste that infringes on DuPont’s patented tellurium paste technology, the Wilmington, Delaware-based chemical company said today in a statement.

Tory Carroll, a spokeswoman for SunEdison at public relations firm Grayling, said the company had no additional comment when reached by phone.
