Kid Brands Seeks Bankruptcy Court OK for Assets Sale

Kid Brands Inc. (KIDBQ), the bankrupt maker of baby bedding, furniture and toys under brands including Carters and Graco, asked a judge’s permission to sell certain assets to Crown Crafts Infant Products Inc.

Kid Brands said closely held Crown Crafts agreed to buy some of its Kids Line LLC and CoCaLo Inc. units’ assets for $1.35 million, according to papers filed yesterday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Newark, New Jersey.

The offer is subject to higher or better offers at a sale hearing to be scheduled by the court. To get the best price, the company will give potential buyers that sign non-disclosure agreements access to private information reflecting the assets’ value, Kid Brands said in court papers.

The parts of the company Crown Crafts (CRWS) plans to take include the trademarks, logos, brands, Internet domain names, Internet media accounts and Web pages associated with Kids Line and CoCaLo, according to court papers.

Kid Brands, based in East Rutherford, New Jersey-based company listed assets of $32.4 million and debt of $109.2 million in Chapter 11 papers filed June 18.

The case is In re Kid Brands Inc., 14-bk-22582, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of New Jersey (Newark).
