Athens, Thessaloniki Water to Stay State-Controlled: Kathimerini

The Greek government decided to keep Athens Water Supply & Sewage Co. (EYDAP) SA and Thessaloniki Water Supply & Sewage Co. (EYAPS) SA, Greece’s two largest water utilities, as state-controlled companies, Kathimerini newspaper reported today, without citing anyone.

The decision follows rulings by the Greek State Council constitutional court that halted the transfer of the country’s stakes in the two companies to Greece’s state asset sales fund, Kathimerini said. The government’s decision doesn’t mean the fund can’t sell minority stakes in the two utilities, the newspaper said.
