Showa Shell Solar Unit to Supply Panels for U.K. Power Station

Solar Frontier K.K., a unit of Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. (5002), will supply panels for a solar-power station in Banwell, U.K.

Construction of the 8.1-megawatt plant developed by New Energy for the World GmbH will start in September, Tokyo-based Solar Frontier said in a statement today.

Solar Frontier makes panels using copper, indium, gallium and selenium, known as CIGS. SAR Electronic GmbH has a 76 percent stake in New Energy for the World, which is based in Regensburg, Germany.
