The treatment schedule for Murray, 71, may require him to be away from the team’s office from time to time, and during those periods assistant general managers Pierre Dorion and Randy Lee will manage the Senators, said the team, which didn’t give any further details about the type of cancer.
Murray, who was born Dec. 5, 1942 in Shawville, Quebec has been general manager of the Senators since 2007. He is also president of hockey operations for the club, which finished fifth in the Atlantic division with 88 points, missing the playoffs.
