U.S.’s Lew Says More Sanctions Could Push Russia Into Recession

U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew said additional sanctions on Russia could push the country’s economy into a recession.

Lew, who will be in Beijing on July 9-10 for talks with Chinese leaders as part of the annual U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue, said sanctions against Russia will be among the topics discussed with officials from the world’s second-largest economy. Lew commented at a panel hosted by the U.S.- China Business Council in Washington.
