Cianfarani Leaves CIBC; Royal Bank Hires Hitchens

Former Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce equity derivatives specialist Mario Cianfarani is now a portfolio manager at First Asset Investment Management Inc., according to Vlaad and Co., a Toronto-based financial-services recruiting firm.

Other moves in the “Bill’s Buzz” weekly newsletter include:

* Josh Wong left Bank of Nova Scotia where he was an associate in investment banking to join TAP Advisors LLC as an associate.

* Baytex Energy Corp. hired Wes Swanson as a senior advisor in capital markets from Bank of Montreal (BMO), where he was in the investment banking unit.

* Royal Bank of Canada (RY) hired Daniel Hitchens as an analyst for its North American project finance team. He was previously at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

* CIBC hired Matthew Norris as an associate for its investment banking energy team from Probel Capital Management.
