NBA’s Clippers Promote Rivers as Restructuring Continues

Los Angeles Clippers coach Doc Rivers has also become the National Basketball Association team’s president of basketball operations, continuing the restructuring that began after racist remarks by owner Donald Sterling were made public.

The Clippers also said in a news release yesterday that Dave Wohl was promoted to general manager from pro scouting director and that Kevin Eastman, who was an assistant coach this past season, will become vice president of basketball operations. Wohl was coach of the New Jersey Nets in 1985-88.

Team president Andy Roeser took an indefinite leave of absence on May 6, a week after Sterling was banned for life from the NBA.

Sterling’s wife, Shelly, agreed May 29 to sell the team for an NBA-record $2 billion to former Microsoft Corp. Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer.
