Reliance to Start Mumbai’s First Metro Train Tomorrow, Mint Says

Mumbai Metro One Pvt., a unit of billionaire Anil Ambani’s Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. (RELI), will start Mumbai city’s first metro train tomorrow, Mint newspaper reported, citing two people with knowledge of the plan.

The train operator will begin services at 5:30 a.m. and will run till midnight every day, the newspaper reported. Mumbai Metro issued a press statement earlier today inviting reporters to ride on the metro train at 11 a.m. A spokesman for the company said they are likely to issue a statement later today, asking not to be identified citing company policy.

Mumbai Metro will operate 16 trains initially, Mint reported. It estimates as many as 1.2 million people will use the service every day, according to the newspaper.
