Poroshenko Has ‘Unique Chance’ to End Ukraine Conflict: Putin

Ukrainian President-elect Petro Poroshenko must call halt to offensive vs. pro-Russian rebels in southeastern Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin says in interview with France’s Europe 1 and TF1 channel, according to transcript e-mailed by Kremlin. * “I think that Mr. Poroshenko, who has no blood on his hands so far, has a unique chance to halt this punitive operation and start a direct dialogue with his citizens in the south and east of his country” * Russia respects choice of Ukrainian people and will cooperate with the Ukrainian authorities, Putin says of Poroshenko’s election as president * Asked if he’ll meet Poroshenko at WWII commemorations in Normandy, France, this week, Putin says: “You know, I don’t plan to evade anyone.
