Charterhouse Said to Seek $1.4 Billion in Bureau van Dijk Sale

Charterhouse Capital Partners LLP is exploring a sale of Bureau van Dijk Electronic Publishing BV after owning the company for less than three years, according to three people with knowledge of the matter.

Charterhouse is speaking with advisers about an initial public offering or an auction that could value the Brussels-based information provider it bought in 2011 at more than 1 billion euros ($1.4 billion), said two of the people, who asked not to be identified because the talks are private.

Bureau van Dijk raised 680 million euros of first and second-lien loans in February to refinance debt and fund a dividend payout to Charterhouse, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Spokesmen for Charterhouse and Bureau van Dijk didn’t reply to phone calls and e-mails seeking comment.
