Ivan Nova of the New York Yankees pitches during the second inning of a game against the Tampa Bay Rays on April 19, 2014 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Yankees starting pitcher Ivan Nova, who left yesterday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays with an injury, has a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow and will be put on the disabled list.

The team also will reinstate first baseman Mark Teixeira from the disabled list, the team said in a statement. Teixeira was recovering from a strained hamstring.

Nova, who is 2-2 with an 8.27 earned run average, will undergo further examination this week, the team said.
