JA Solar Holdings Co. (JASO), a Chinese solar manufacturer, said first-quarter shipments will be higher than the company’s earlier forecast.
Shipments for the quarter will exceed 620 megawatts, higher than a March forecast of 580 megawatts to 610 megawatts, Shanghai-based JA Solar said today in a statement. The company reiterated its full-year forecast of 2.7 gigawatts to 2.9 gigawatts.
JA Solar’s upward revision contrasts with competitors Trina Solar Ltd. (TSL) and Yingli Green Energy Holding Co which said last week that first-quarter shipments would be lower than expected.
JA Solar’s American depositary receipts, each worth five ordinary shares, gained 5.9 percent to $9.87 at 10:13 a.m. in New York.
