Bubba Watson has a three-shot lead over Jordan Spieth and Jonas Blixt with five holes remaining at golf’s Masters Tournament.
Watson held a one-shot lead over the 20-year-old Spieth before the Masters rookie made bogey when he hit his tee shot into the creek in front of the green at the par-3 12th hole. Watson, the 2012 Masters champion, added his fifth birdie of the round at the par-5 13th hole to get to 8 under par at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.
Spieth, who entered the day tied with Watson for the lead, is 5 under at the season’s first major championship, one shot better than fellow American Matt Kuchar.
Watson is seeking to become the 17th player with at least two Masters titles.
The winner receives $1.62 million along with the ceremonial green jacket presented to the Masters champion.
