Man-Eating Crocodile Weighing a Ton Captured in Uganda

(Corrects source of news in first paragraph.)

A crocodile suspected of eating four people and weighing a metric ton has been captured on the shores of Lake Victoria in Uganda, Sky News said, citing government officials.

The crocodile was captured on a hook baited with meat, loaded on a truck at Kakira and will be sent to the Murchison Falls national park, Sky said.

It is estimated to be 80 years old and is just 47 kilograms (104 pounds) lighter than the largest crocodile ever held in captivity, a 21-foot saltwater crocodile named Lolong in the Philippines, Sky said, citing the officials.
