Meckler Says ‘Inside 3D Printing’ Reveals Industry Scope (Audio

Alan Meckler, chairman and chief executive officer of Mediabistro, says about 40 companies will take part in the Inside 3D Printing conference at New York City’s Jacob Javits Center this Thursday and Friday. Meckler says a huge part of the industry, which goes unnoticed because there’s no pure public company in the field, is so-called ‘service bureaus’ – which provide manufacturers who don’t want to buy 3D printers with 3D printing services. Meckler is also head of Outlook Funds Trust which manages the 3D Printing and Technology Fund, ticker: TDPIX), the first mutual fund devoted to investing in 3D printing and additive manufacturing. The fund includes about 30 stocks and, despite a difficult quarter, Meckler has high hopes for the fund over the long term. UBS today initiated coverage on 3D Systems with a neutral rating and on Stratasys with a buy rating. Meckler speaks with Bloomberg’s Kathleen Hays and Vonnie Quinn on Bloomberg Radio’s "The Hays Advantage.”
