Stockpiles of wheat after the 2013 harvest in Canada, the world’s second-largest exporter, rose 37.7 percent from a year earlier as farmers collected record yields.
All-wheat inventories totaled 28.4 million metric tons, compared with 20.6 million in 2012, Statistics Canada said today from Ottawa. Canola reserves surged 55.3 percent to 12.6 million tons.
Wheat production in 2013 rose to an all-time high of 37.5 million tons and canola output jumped to a record 18 million tons, the government agency said Dec. 4.
