Isle of Man Seeks Developers of Marine Energy, Offshore Wind

The Isle of Man is seeking developers of marine energy and offshore wind to draw income to the island.

The British crown dependency sought interest in building projects off its coast, it said today in an e-mailed statement.

“The potential return to the Isle of Man from large offshore wind farms could be worth 5 million pounds ($8 million) a year from leasing the seabed in our territorial sea,” said John Shimmin, minister for economic development. About 60 jobs may be created from the development of one wind farm, he said.
