Citigroup Names Bardrick to Head U.K. Operations

Citigroup Inc. (C), the third-largest U.S. bank, named James Bardrick as country officer for the U.K.

Bardrick, 51, takes over from Maurice Thompson, who announced his plans to leave the firm and the industry, according to a memo from the New York-based lender obtained by Bloomberg and confirmed by Danielle Romero-Apsilos, a bank spokeswoman.

Bardrick, who was co-head of corporate and investment banking for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, will report to Zdenek Turek, 49, according to the memo from Jim Cowles, chief executive officer for EMEA, and Bill Mills, the CEO for North America.

Bardrick will remain as vice chairman of corporate and investment banking for EMEA, and continue to serve on the bank’s EMEA operating committee, according to the memo.

The Financial Times reported the moves earlier today.
