Chrysler Vehicle Output Rose 16% in December Fueled by Cherokee

Chrysler Group LLC, the U.S. automaker majority-owned by Fiat SpA (F), said vehicle production rose 16 percent in December to 187,764. Full-year output increased 5.8 percent led by light trucks, the company said.

The Jeep Cherokee sport-utility vehicle made up almost two-thirds of the difference in December, with 16,980 built, compared with 53 Jeep Liberty models a year earlier. Car output slid 17 percent for the month, while light-truck production jumped almost 30 percent, according to a statement on the company’s website.
