Khobragade May Leave U.S. as Early as Today, Judge Told

Devyani Khobragade, the Indian diplomat indicted for visa fraud for allegedly underpaying her Indian babysitter, could leave the U.S. as early as today, a federal judge was told by her lawyer.

Her lawyer, Daniel Arshack, told U.S. District Judge Shira Scheindlin in Manhattan that Khobragade was about to board a flight to India today. He said he counseled her not to leave out of concern she’d be accused of bail jumping. Scheindlin said her departure won’t affect her bail.
