As head of the division since 2004, Braunstein led Fed efforts to regulate consumer products such as credit cards and mortgages. In 2008 she led an overhaul of mortgage regulations.
The 2010 Dodd-Frank act transferred some of the Fed’s consumer oversight authorities to a new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and Braunstein “played a key role in the transition of division staff and resources to the” CFPB, the Fed said in a statement.
