Former RBNZ Director Alison Paterson Awarded New Year Honor

Former Reserve Bank of New Zealand deputy chairman Alison Paterson is among six recipients of the highest award in the annual New Year honors list.

Paterson, who spent 15 years on the central bank board before stepping down in 2010, becomes a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit, according to a statement from the government. Fashion designer Trelise Cooper becomes a Dame, while former Christchurch mayor Bob Parker, Anglican archbishop David Moxon, Maori educationalist Toby Curtis and thoroughbred breeder Peter Vela become Knight companions

Among those named as Companions of the Order of Merit were property developer Peter Cooper, Christchurch retailer Richard Ballantyne, fashion designer Karen Walker and chief executive of the Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce Peter Townsend.
