Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will miss his seventh consecutive game this weekend as he recovers from a broken collarbone in his non-throwing shoulder.
“As an organization we feel as though we are not ready for him to play,” McCarthy said. “He has not been medically cleared.”
The NFL’s Most Valuable Player in 2011, Rodgers has completed 67 percent of his passes this year for 2,218 yards and 15 touchdowns. His 70.3 total quarterback rating is second-best in the National Football Conference behind Josh McCown of the Chicago Bears (85.7).
Already eliminated from wild-card contention, Green Bay (7-6-1) trails the Bears (8-6) by a half game in the NFC North division with two games left to play. The two teams face each other in the season finale on Dec. 29 in Chicago.
