Notre Dame Coming to Fenway for Football Against Boston College

The University of Notre Dame will play against Boston College at Fenway Park in 2015, the first time the baseball stadium will be used for football in 47 years, the schools said in a statement.

The meeting between the Fighting Irish and Eagles on Nov. 21, 2015, is part of Notre Dame’s Shamrock Series, the school’s annual home football game away from its South Bend, Indiana campus.

Fenway, home of Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox, opened in 1912 and last hosted a football game on Dec. 1, 1968, when the Boston Patriots played their last American Football League game at the park before moving home games to Boston College.

The two schools are also scheduled to face each other in a college ice hockey game at Fenway next month during a two-week series of hockey, skating and sledding events.

Previous Notre Dame Shamrock Series games have been played in San Antonio, New York, the Washington, D.C., area, Chicago, and North Texas.
