Tigers Agree to Sign Pitcher Joba Chamberlain, MLB.com Reports

The Detroit Tigers agreed to sign free-agent relief pitcher Joba Chamberlain, who spent all of his seven-year Major League Baseball career with the New York Yankees, to a one-year contract, MLB.com said on Twitter, citing a person it didn’t identify.

Chamberlain, 28, last season had a 2-1 record with a 4.93 earned run average. He is 23-14 for his career with a 3.85 ERA.

ESPN reported that the Tigers and Chamberlain were close to a one-year, $2.5 million contract.
