Paul Tudor Jones said he’d be dead without his wife, who was being feted by a cancer charity in New York for evangelizing yoga to the young.

Sonia Jones confirmed that she steers her hedge-funder husband clear of Big Macs and makes him drink a green shake every morning, though can’t do much about his erratic sleeping patterns.

“Trading, for him, it’s like having baby after baby that cries in the night,” she said. “He wakes up for the baby every few hours.”

Last spring Jones took heat for off-the-cuff remarks suggesting that having children interferes with a woman’s ability to be a macro hedge-fund trader. Last night, Jones addressed those remarks on a personal level.

“One out of three of my daughters wants to trade,” Jones said. “I told her, don’t even think of having children until you’re 30. You have to have that 10-year stretch if you want to be in the game.”

The occasion was a fundraiser for the Dubin Breast Center at New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital, which offers cutting-edge breast-cancer treatments and a holistic care approach that includes knitting and meditation classes. Eva Andersson-Dubin, a doctor, founded the center with a gift from her husband, Highbridge Capital Management LLC’s Glenn Dubin.

The event raised $2.1 million to treat patients regardless of their ability to pay, and radiated around the Dubins, their friends and family.

Michael J. Fox

“It’s kind of like having a wedding every year,” Glenn Dubin said as he greeted guests in the lobby of the Mandarin Oriental hotel.

They included Timothy Barakett, chairman of TRB Advisors LP; the actor Michael J. Fox, who noted Eva Dubin sits on the board of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research; Highbridge alumni Todd Builione, now at KKR & Co., and Jason Esralew, portfolio manager at Ionic Capital Management LLC.

There was also Cantor Fitzgerald LP Chief Executive Officer Howard Lutnick, a friend of the Dubin Breast Center’s co-director, Elisa Port (“our sons are pals,” he said); John Griffin, founder of Blue Ridge Capital LLC, and David Thompson, portfolio manager at VRG Investments, who was celebrating his birthday (his wife surprised him, inviting 20 of their friends).

Video Tribute

Sonia Jones co-founded the Sonima Foundation, which provides yoga to kids across the U.S. to improve mind, body and spirit. She was jointly honored with Ramon Parsons, chairman of the department of oncological sciences at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

The friendship between the Dubins and the Jones’s -- Paul Tudor Jones recruited Glenn Dubin to help found the Robin Hood Foundation in 1988, and Eva Dubin and Sonia Jones said they’ve been friends for more than 20 years -- resulted in a very funny, well-executed video tribute.

Jones and his daughters appear in a huddle.

“One of us has got to do this, or she’s gonna kill us,” Papa Jones says as they all draw straws, leaving one of the girls to guzzle a bright-green vegetable shake.

In other cameos, Deepak Chopra testifies to her meditation abilities and John McEnroe receives a call from Sonia reminding him to meditate. At first the tennis champ is agitated, before dropping to the floor and repeating the mantra “every call is a good call.”
