Smart Water Network Revenue to Triple by 2022: Researcher

Annual revenue from smart water networks that use energy more efficiently and reduce leaks will triple to more than $3.3 billion in 2022 from this year, according to a research report from Navigant Consulting Inc. (NCI)

Utilities and municipalities will increasingly turn to smart water networks that curb waste and losses amid growing urbanization because replacing infrastructure can be expensive and disruptive, Chicago-based Navigant said today in an e-mailed statement.

“The water industry is hungry for change but also conservative in its operations and restricted in its financial options,” Eric Woods, a Navigant analyst, said in the statement.
