USC Hires Sarkisian as Football Coach, ESPN Says

(Corrects where Sarkisian played college football in second paragraph.)

The University of Southern California is hiring Steve Sarkisian as football coach, ESPN reported, citing people familiar with the situation.

Sarkisian, 39, had been the University of Washington coach since 2009, compiling a record of 34 wins and 29 losses. He played football collegiately at Brigham Young University and was later an offensive assistant at USC.

Lane Kiffin was dismissed as coach in September and replaced on an interim basis by Ed Orgeron.
