Cocoa Caps Longest Rally in 11 Years: Commodities at Close

The Standard & Poor’s GSCI gauge of 24 commodities rose 0.1 percent to 621.69 at 2:50 p.m. in New York. The UBS Bloomberg CMCI index of raw materials gained 0.2% to 1,436.023.

Cocoa prices rose the fifth straight month, the longest rally in 11 years, as inventories monitored by ICE Futures U.S. fell to the lowest since June 2011. * Cocoa rose 0.8% to $2,788/t on ICE * Raw sugar fell 0.4% to 17.15c/lb * Cotton gained 1.2% to 79.35c/lb * Orange juice increased 0.5% to $1.397/lb * Arabica coffee advanced 2.5% to $1.1085/lb

Gasoline futures fell, capping the first weekly decline in four weeks, as inventories rose after refineries returned to service following seasonal maintenance. * Gasoline dropped 0.5% to $2.6841/gal on Nymex * Ultra low sulfur diesel gained 0.09 cent to $3.0478/gal

Copper rose in New York amid the outlook for increasing demand in China, the world’s biggest consumer of the metal. * Copper climbed 0.5% to $3.205/lb on Comex * Aluminum, nickel, tin, lead and zinc rose on the LME

Cattle futures capped the longest rally in two months on speculation that U.S. beef demand is improving, encouraging meatpackers to buy more animals for slaughter. * Cattle futures advanced 0.1% to $1.3425/lb * Feeder-cattle gained 0.1% to $1.65475/lb * Hogs rose 0.1% to 90.575c/lb
