OSX Said to Be Filing for Bankruptcy Protection in Rio Today

Eike Batista’s shipbuilder OSX Brasil SA is filing for bankruptcy protection today, according to a person with direct knowledge of the case.

OSX lawyers will submit documents in a Rio de Janeiro court, said the person, asking not to be named before the request has been made public.

The shipbuilder’s board approved the so-called judicial recovery petition, switched advisers and will seek to change its name, address and board composition, the Rio-based company said in a Nov. 8 statement.
