Calgon Carbon Swings to Profit on Water, Activated Carbon Demand

Calgon Carbon Corp. (CCC), an activated carbon and ultraviolet technology provider to clean water and air, swung to a third-quarter profit from a year ago on demand in the environmental water, food and specialty carbon markets.

Net income was $11.9 million compared with a $4.5 million loss for the year-earlier period, the Pittsburgh-based company said today in a statement. Sales rose 2.9 percent.
