New York Knicks player Iman Shumpert was a first-round National Basketball Association draft pick by the team in 2011.

The New York Knicks said they exercised their fourth-year contract option on guard Iman Shumpert, who averaged 6.8 points a game last season.

Shumpert, 23, will be entering his third season with the Knicks. He was a first-round National Basketball Association draft pick by New York in 2011.

The move to exercise Shumpert’s option was announced today by Knicks President and General Manager Steve Mills in an e-mail from the team. Contract details were not released.
