Chelsea and Manchester City are interested in signing Paris Saint Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi, the Daily Express reported.

PSG is in talks with the 26-year-old about extending his contract which expires in June 2014, the Express added.

Phelan Hint

Manchester would have signed one of the world’s best players if coach Alex Ferguson and CEO David Gill had stayed at the club, the Daily Mirror reported, citing former assistant coach Mike Phelan.

United was linked to signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Cesc Fabregas in the offseason, the Mirror added.

Boro Coach

Phelan and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink are candidates to become Middlesbrough coach, the Daily Mail reported.

Hasselbaink, who played for the club for two years, currently manages Belgium’s Royal Antwerp, the Mail said.

Chelsea Target

Chelsea may try to sign 17-year-old Wolfsburg winger Julian Brandt, the Daily Star reported.

Brandt has decided to complete his current deal, which runs out after this season, the Star said.
