Mets Close to Contract Extension With Manager Collins, ESPN Says

The New York Mets and manager Terry Collins are close to agreeing on a two-year contract extension, ESPN reported on its website.

Collins is in the final year of his contract and the new deal includes a team option for the 2016 Major League Baseball season, ESPN reported, citing a person within the team it didn’t identify. The extension is expected to be announced in two days, ESPN said.

Collins, 64, has a 224-260 record in three seasons with the Mets. New York is third in the five-team National League Eastern Division with a 73-87 record heading into the final two games of the season.
