Manchester United coach David Moyes will watch Athletic Bilbao’s Ander Herrera at the weekend, and may try to sign him in January, the Daily Telegraph reported.

United was reluctant to pay a 30.5 million pound ($49 million) fee to acquire the 24-year-old midfielder on transfer deadline day, the Telegraph said.

Kroenke Backing

Arsenal’s biggest shareholder Stan Kroenke said the Gunners haven’t wavered in supporting coach Arsene Wenger and wants him to stay on after this season, the Daily Mirror reported.

Wenger and the Gunners are “totally aligned,” the Mirror quoted Kroenke as saying.

Jol’s No. 2

Fulham coach Martin Jol wants to hire Alex Ferguson’s former deputy Rene Meulensteen, the Daily Mail reported.

Jol is coming under pressure after Fulham took four points from its opening five games, the Mail said.

Mourinho Tears

Jose Mourinho sobbed when he was overlooked for the job of coaching Manchester United, the Guardian reported, citing a new book by Spanish journalist Diego Torres.
