Wind Mobile Planning to Enter Canadian Spectrum Auction

Wind Mobile, the largest of the new Ontario-based wireless carriers, said it plans to bid for spectrum in a government auction of airwaves next year to challenge the dominance of Rogers Communications Inc. (RCI/B), BCE Inc. (BCE) and Telus Corp. (T)

Wind, based in Toronto, will submit a bid for the sought-after 700 megahertz airwaves through parent company Globalive Wireless Management Corp., the company said in an e-mailed statement today. Wind says it now has more than 650,0000 subscribers across the country.
