Georgia Defeats South Carolina 41-30, Texas A&M Tops Sam Houston

Aaron Murray threw for four touchdowns to lead the 11th-ranked University of Georgia to a 41-30 win over No. 6 South Carolina in college football.

At College Station, Texas, Johnny Manziel threw for 426 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a fourth in less than three quarters as No. 7 Texas A&M (2-0) overwhelmed Sam Houston State University (1-1) 65-28.

Georgia’s Murray made touchdown passes of three, six and eight yards before connecting with Justin Scott-Wesley on an 85-yard scoring pass with 13 minutes left in the game at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia.

“It was a lot of fun,” Murray said. “It’s definitely up there.”

The Bulldogs are 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the Southeastern Conference.

Connor Shaw passed for 228 yards and two touchdowns for the Gamecocks (1-1, 0-1 SEC).

In other games involving teams ranked by the Associated Press Writers’ Poll, it was No. 2 Oregon 59, Virginia 10; No. 3 Ohio State 42, San Diego State 7; No. 4 Clemson 52, South Carolina State 13; No. 8 Louisville 44, East Kentucky 7; and No. 9 Louisiana State 56, Alabama at Birmingham 17.
