L&T’s Nabha Power Seeks to Import 1.3 Million Tons Steam Coal

Nabha Power Ltd., a unit of India’s biggest engineering company, is seeking to buy 1.3 million metric tons of imported coal for its 1,400-megawatt Rajapura plant in the northern state of Punjab.

The power producing arm of Mumbai-based Larsen & Toubro (LT) Ltd. has sought offers for a contract to supply coal by Aug. 9, 2013, according to a statement on Nabha Power’s website. Technical bids will be opened on the same date while price bids will be opened on Aug. 30, the document shows.

Nabha Power is looking for coal with a gross calorific value of as much as 6,300 kilocalories per kilogram, sulfur content of 0.8 percent, total moisture and ash content of not more than 20 percent and 17 percent respectively.
