Davis leads the majors with 30 home runs and holds second place in runs batted in with 79 behind Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera who has driven in 81.
Davis hit a three-run homer in the Orioles’ four-run first inning and a two-run shot in the sixth at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Ryan Flaherty added a three-run homer in the third inning.
The Orioles (46-36) are in second place in the American League East, 2 ½ games behind the Boston Red Sox (49-34) after their 6-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays yesterday. The Yankees (42-38) are 5 ½ games behind the leader.
Zach Britton (2-2) allowed two runs on six hits and struck out one in 5 2/3 innings. David Phelps (5-5) took the loss after giving up nine runs on nine hits and striking out one in 2 1/3 innings.
