North Carolina Wins to Oust N.C. State in College World Series

Top-seeded University of North Carolina won 7-0 to eliminate North Carolina State University in the national men’s college baseball championship.

Hobbs Johnson struck out six while allowing five hits in 8 1/3 innings for North Carolina last night in the National Collegiate Athletic Association College World Series at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska.

Michael Russell drove in three runs and Mike Zolk and Colin Moran each batted in two runs for North Carolina.

In today’s games, third-seeded Oregon State meets Mississippi State and North Carolina plays the University of California, Los Angeles with the winners going to the best-of-three championship series beginning June 24.
